My Take: SLEEPING GIANT WAKES UP!
House goes with (currently–a few more still counting) 64 Seats–Comfortable Majority, Congrats to Speaker John Boehner and all the spectacular new members
Governors’ wipe out! Total now, 31 (10+ pickup) with 2 more counting (IL & FL)–Perry 3rd term, Haley (SC) & Martinez (NM), Kasich (OH), Corbett (PA) & more.
Important for ’11 redistricting, doesn’t bode well for Obama, as many of the state Houses turned red with the governors.Senate–yeah, they continue with majority, but it IS way whittled down and still counting (CO & WA), but you have new Senators: Rubio (FL), Toomey (PA), Kirk (IL), Boozeman (AR), Coats (IN), Rand (KY), Blunt (MO), Ayotte (NH) & Portman (OH). We retained many, AK with RINO “Write-in” ahead and some others. Current count is 49 (D), 2 (I) & 47 (R). Any way you slice it, the Senate is going to be interesting with Lieberman and Manchin (if he is to believed with his campaign promises) voting fiscal issues, etc.
So, great all the way around! To Obama, Pelosi and Reid, careful who you aggressively poke with progressive ram-down-your-throat, to hell with what you think agendas and legislation, lest you wake the Sleeping Giant!

Senator Jim Demint has an op-ed in the WSJ addressing the incoming candidates, Andy McCarthy at The Corner breaks it down;
1. No earmarks — if you play the game, they own you.
2. Hire conservative staff — don’t get undermined from within.
3. Don’t be seduced by committee assignments — you have a public platform and, particularly in the Senate, you are not limited by committee assignment or seniority from legislating on any matter.
4. Don’t seek titles in the hierarchy — see no. 3, above.
5. Doing your job takes priority over being reelected to do your job.
I especially like his summation. After reminding his new colleagues that “voters back home want less government and more freedom,” Senator DeMint says, “Tea party Republicans were elected to go to Washington and save the country — not be co-opted by the club. So put on your boxing gloves. The fight begins today.”

West is awesome–he’s the guy that haeld an “insurgent” with his troops ion the field and knew there was to be an ambush. He made every one leave the area, blindfolded the guy, pulled his gun cocked it nex to his ear and pulled the trigger. The insurgent decided he needed to tell West eveything he knew and the ambush was turned around on the attackers. West walked into command, explained what he did and took his lumps and was fired and sent home–retired actually.
Now, that IS the kinda guy you want working for you. -

#5 GJT,
Senator Jim Demint has an op-ed in the WSJ addressing the incoming candidates
That op-ed needs to be pasted to the wall of EVERY Republican elected to office last night, from the level of dog-catcher on up. Absolutely fantastic. Conspicuously absent from it is any talk of social conservatism (hint, hint). Adjust your mindset to it being all about the money right here and now. Stray from that message and we lose. And we (literally) can not afford to lose.

Let’s see….
Wasn’t Queen Sheila heading up the immigration stuff? I guess this means she’s off? What will happen next, I wonder?
I’m happy enough, but I would have been delirious had Reid eaten dirt last night. There’s always next time.
Can we rein in the union thuggery? Can we tighten up our election procedures? I know that’s a state-by-state issue, but HOLY cow things are way too loose!

I caught the clip of Chris Matthews talking to Bachmann. That guy is such a tool. And then Maddow and the rest of the frothing libs at msnbc made me want to puke. I couldn’t watch more than a few minutes of that crap. I was glad when the clip ended. I haven’t felt such disgust since the last time I came upon fresh roadkill.

Yesterday was the American political process at it’s finest. And if those in DC and Austin don’t wake up and realize that the citizens of this country are their bosses, then in 2 years we will do the same thing again, and vote the bums out.
But I do love that Feingold got show the door, But I wish the Katy ISD Bond issue would have gone down in flames.

Pubbies did fare very well, but not as well as some predicted here. Texas republican candidates had a particularly good evening, better than other states, as expected. So I think I’ll be sticking with granola for breakfast.
Prop 19 failed by half a million votes. I was surprised at the point spread in the Reid/Angle battle, but not at all surprised by AK or DE.

Great moments in Democrat leadership:
Roosevelt: All we have to fear is fear itself.
Kennedy: We choose to do these things and the others not because they are easy, but because they are hard.
Obama: Quick! Turn out the lights and get behind the credenza. Maybe they’ll go away soon. -

Sadly, here in the barrio I’ll still be represented by fools at the state (Jessica Farrar) and federal (Gene Green) levels. A surprising change at the county level, though. Sylvia Garcia got swept out. Jessica and Sylvia are both neighbors of mine. They’re also members of my parish although we only see Jessica in an election year. At least now I won’t have to cringe when she receives communion for another two years. This piece of work tried to create a new category – post-birth abortion – where a mother could kill her baby and only be charged with a state jail felony. She even won an award for her stellar record of supporting baby-killing.

Good morning all. Cool 54 with occasional sprinkles punctuating breeze-driven mist at 6 and 7 and 8. That takes care of what’s really outside.
But the Sun is shining in our hearts and nothing can spoil the victories last night. We The People have spoken, T-Rex traversed the land carrying the message, and anyone who thinks/hopes it will be gone with the wind is delusional. Regrettably there are delusional ones in their bunkers this morning, smarting with the slap upside the head but refusing to pay attention. That is their problem. Now the word is accountability for everyone elected. The real work begins today. Warpaint and pitchforks are in reserve but conveniently at hand.
Love Senator DeMint’s WSJ opinion piece. He nails it.

Nice showing, now it’s time to get to work. Senator Bailout’s term ends in 2012 – who are we going to get to run to fill that slot. Boss Hoggwhite may be rejuvenated by then, or some other tassle shoed lawyer might step up on the other side. I’m sure that all those “conservatives” we are sending up there won’t be able to resist temptation, so there needs to be a farm team under development for replacement representatives as needed. Obviously, the leadership of the Reps need a major overhaul, starting with the Graham/McCain wing of the party, so someone has to pay attention to that as well. Oh yes, folks, there is work to be done starting today.
BTW, the silver lining in the Reid victory is how much it chaps Schmucky Shumers backside.

California signed its own death warrant yesterday. The people passed Prop 25, which allows passage of a state budget with a simple majority; they elected a heavily liberal State Assembly; and they elected a very liberal Democrat governor.
No Federal bailout for them. They’ve made their bed; they can sleep in it. I wonder how many economic refugees will end up here?

A friend of mine is trying to talk me into auditioning for a small role in a community theater production of Miracle on 34th Street, but I don’t think I’m right for any of the parts. I think I’ll give it a try anyway. He’s very persistent about the idea, even after I explained that I’m not cutting my hair, and I no longer do nude scenes.

Whee, yesterday Wisconsin turned from deep blue to red. Feingold out, Johnson in. Walker rather than Barret in as Governor. WI-7 and WI-8 go Republican, 5 of the 8 House members are now Pubbies. GOP takes control of the Assembly and Senate. Common sense returns to the state. Minnesota could stand a makeover like this. The good folks there have more work to do.

Ok, time for some role playing here.
Here is the scenario:
You are the new incoming Speaker of the House, your party has just made history with the largest gain of seats in the House in over 70 years. How do you approach the senate? How do you approach the President? And also, what are the first things on your agenda, and why? -

I just got off the phone with Lovely. She said she was walking around campus and could tell who the Republicans were. One was a dorm director whom she was “on the fence about,” but who was broadly smiling today! Then there were the mopers, whining about how bad a day this was for Texas. She told them “I was a grown-up when this happened to me, it would be nice if you were a grown-up today.”
Way to go, girl!

#60 BW:
1) You start with Harry, you pull him aside and ask him: ‘what does he think really just happened?’ Then advise/remind him that ALL APPROPRIATIONS BILLS MUST ORIGINATE IN THE HOUSE. Then you advise him that the spending spree is over, obamacare is going to be repealed in its entirety, the vile crap in the porkulus/fascist/progressive stimulus bill will be repealed in its entirety, no more 2500 page bills with 5 hours to read before voting, no more packing the bills with non-title relevant pork and finally, henceforth the Constitution of the United States in its original intent will reign supreme.
2) Hey Barry-O: See above and abide or face impeachment proceedings with a trial in the senate where you will be forced to porduce your papers to prove you are a citizen; along with all the other huge gaps in your bio (passport records, college transcripts, student loan applications, home mortgage info, etc.). Either way understand that the House appropriates funds and unless you want to be eating canned pork and beans for supper you better change your approach. All of your Czars and their individual feifdoms are hereby de-funded.
3) Repeal, in its entirety, obamacare. While that is taking place, keep tax code at current levels or REDUCE ACROSS THE BOARD. NO more/increased taxes. If the lame duck congress fails to extend permanently the taxes at their current levels, then when the new congress reconvenes, extend them retroactively. -

#62, OUCH!!!!!
BTW, did anyone hear Ted Poe on KSEV this morning talking about taking the keys to the plane away from San Fran Nan? He was just besided himself with joy about her having to go through security and having to sit in coach. Then Sam Malone brought it to a higher level laughing about what her reaction is going to be to the various fees, and paying for her booze…
Loved it.
Ted needs to be the chairman of appropriation committee. -

Michelle Malkin on a tear! It’s not only endorsements being shoved, it seems:
Here is an ironclad certainty: It’s too little too late for the antagonist-in-chief to paper over two years of relentless Democratic incivility and hate toward his domestic “enemies.” Voters have spoken: They’ve had enough. Enough of the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize winner’s rhetorical abuse. Enough of his feints at bipartisanship. Whatever the final tally, this week’s turnover in Congress is a GOP mandate for legislative pugilism, not peace. Voters have had enough of big government meddlers “getting things done.” They are sending fresh blood to the nation’s Capitol to get things undone.

Does anybody have a tally on what happened to the TEXAS STATE HOUSE AND SENATE RACES? Depending on how many down ballot R’s got elected, 2011 redistricting could be VERY interesting. I can just hear the D’s squealing like the stuck pigs they are . . . . .’you are disenfranchising the poor black voter by not gerrymandering queen sheila and EBJ districts so that only a D can get elected’. I would like to see all the voter roles purged and everybody have to re-register, showing proof of US citizenship AND a photo ID, further, photo ID must be provided henceforth for all elections in the State of Texas. That would shut down voter fraud and the concurrent disenfranchisement of the valid voters.
-
It looks like this
At the final count, 21 Democratic House incumbents went down to defeat yesterday. That will give the Republicans a 98-52 majority when the new Legislature convenes in January.
But there is still some room for Republican growth.
State Rep. Donna Howard, D-Austin, is leading her Republican opponent, Dan Neil, by 15 votes. The guarantees a recount.
So between that and the senate being at 19-12. Things should be interesting.

They just won’t go away, will they?
In the wake of this financial destruction, it’s clear that our country needs a leader who understands the economic forces that led us into this situation.
We need a leader who understands the economic forces that effect our economy – a leader who understands that LESS government is the answer, not MORE – a leader who understands what taking an oath to uphold the Constitution really means – a leader who understand the vision of the Founding Fathers to provide liberty and prosperity for ourselves and our posterity.
We all know the Congressman that embodies those qualities best!

And some Socialis… er , Progressives just don’t get it, nor ever will!
A Setback, Not Defeat for Progressives, EJ Dionne
President Obama allowed Republicans to define the terms of the nation’s political argument for the past two years and permitted them to draw battle lines the way they wanted. Neither he nor his party can let that happen again.
Democrats would be foolish to turn in on themselves in a fruitless battle over whether their troubles owe to a failure to mobilize and excite their base or to win support from the political center.
As Rove said last night to Juan, “I hope the President throws the throttles forward and keeps driving the train full speed down that track!”

#85 KentBook: WHat do you bet that the shredders are workiing overtime/bigtime?? Are you old enough to remember the shenanigans that happened in Vince Foster’s office right after he “committed suicide in the park”? The investigators were BARRED FROM ENTERING AND HITLERY WAS SEEN REMOVING ARMLOADS OF FILES for at least 2 days.
Some other pertinent details surrounding that event:
1)The body was covered with multi-colored threads that matched a carpet missing from the Whitehouse. Helen Thomas asked where the missing rug was.
2) The park was very dry/drought like at the time, no rain in several weeks, yet there was no dust on the shoes of Mr. Foster even though he had to walk over 100 yards over non paved ground to get to “the scene”
3) There was no blood nor brain matter at the scene, yet he allegedly shot himself in the head in the park.
4) No bullet was found from the firearm below but there were civil war era bullets found in the vicinity
5) The firearm was untraceable
6) blood appeared to have moved uphill on his face, inconsistent with the positioning of the body
7) the FBI was barred from investigating the incident, it was left to the super sleuth park police to investigate
8) His pager was erased
9) His computer hard drive was destroyed
10) Mr. Foster had eaten a full lunch
11) Mr. Foster had recently had sex as there was semen in his underwear
12) There were no reports of any depressed behavior/speech
All these things are documented facts, recorded by G. Gordon Liddy after his interview with the confidential witness who found the body.
What can we conclude from the above?
1) Vince foster did not kill himself in Ft Marcy Park
2) It is not likely that he killed himself at all
3) It is likely that the event/his death happened at the whitehouse.
4) It is obvious that Hitlery and company took great pains to conceal his workings and the circumstances of his death
5) It is a documented fact that a secret service agent watched Hitlery remove files from the office of Mr. Foster after the office was “sealed”I bring all this up in the light of the foul “O” administration and their blantant flouting of the law. Do we really think that they will not shred any and all evidence of criminal behavior?

Bonecrusher, one more thing, an eye witness came on the scene before the Cops and said he saw a pistol IE auto, NOT a revolver that was shown in later photos. Foster owned a 38 snubby but the gun that he had in his hand was made from two different guns. I read a great book about “The Strange Death of Vince Foster”

The thing that’s getting swept under the rug today was the 30 Pubbie Governorships and the state houses that changed over with the wave.
Next year’s redistricting/reapportioning is going to make O’s hopes much smaller. Texas picks up four new House seats, talk was beofre the election it would split 2 & 2–with our majority in the TX legis, there’s a good chance that will go 4 Pubbie, now. -

Once again, the electorate demanded a new start.
The Democratic caucus that will return to Capitol Hill in January is likely to be more liberal than before, after some of its most moderate and conservative members were wiped out Tuesday.
And in the tea party, Republicans must grapple with a new political force for whom compromise is seen as a problem, not a solution.
Snip~
Another challenge for both parties is that even as voters are demanding solutions, they are feeling a growing skepticism about the role and reach of government. -

The funny thing is that they say Bush is the reason things were so bad (when a case can be made that Democrat control of Congress was more to blame), which got them into office. They have since blamed Bush for everything including Michele’s collard greens not growing tall enough. Despite having virtually complete control of the government for two years (Congress for four), they have demonstrably made things worse, not better. Now they blame Bush for their losses in this election.
If Bush were so good as to cause this big of an avalanche two years after leaving office, why could he not cause an even bigger avalanche when he was actually in office?

Nope he’ll NEVER get it; Obama Appeals for ‘Common Ground’ After Democrats Lose House.
President Obama, reflecting on his party’s historic losses in Congress, appealed Wednesday for both sides of the aisle to find “common ground” while continuing to stand by the policies that were used to hammer his party’s candidates in the midterm election.
The president walked a tightrope as he sought to explain the results of the election as well as chart a new legislative path in a congressional landscape far more hostile to his agenda. Though his policies were used against Democrats in races across the country, Obama described his decisions to date as “tough” but “right.” Yet he also said he must take “direct responsibility” for the frustration over the economy and pledged to do more to reach “consensus” with Republicans.
“No party has a monopoly on wisdom,” the president said, as he faced tough questions from the White House press corps. “I want to engage both Democrats and Republicans. … I do believe there is hope for civility. I do believe there’s hope for progress.”

If you are president and have lost the House what do you do to help the economy?
1) SIMPLIFY the tax code all around. Make it easier for businesses to pay their taxes and less likely that they will look for ways to avoid the work that is involved in paying them.
2) Provide small businesses with incentives to grow, through easier SBA loan process, as well as removal of the requirement that everyone provide healthcare to their employees. (IF a company is successful it will provide benefits as a way to get new and more employees.
3) Encourage a continuation of the Bush income tax rates for everyone across the board for 3 years,
4) Adjust the estate tax base amount to $5,000,000 and have index it for inflation.
5) Allow those under 45 to opt out of Social security, (in exchange they get to take the 7% and contribute it to an IRA)
6) Repeal the legislation that allows banks to sell securities and securities firms to be banks. Give them 2 years to spin off their assest or face heavy fines. ( This is what lead to the Banking/mortgage issues we have today.)
7) Freeze federal spending on everything at 2009 levels, and submit a budget plan that will reduce discretionary spending by 3% a year.
8) Vow to veto any spending legislation that has any adders/pork/riders/ or hidden agendas. All spending bills will be simple and clearly defined with each government agency getting their own appropriation bill and the opportunity to argue with the House on their merrits of thier budget. -

Anyhoo, we can’t think of anything catchy. Conservative organization for women won’t cut it. (COW) LOL! Any ideas?

Kentbooks #3;
you have new Senators: Rubio (FL), Toomey (PA), Kirk (IL), Boozeman (AR), Coats (IN), Rand (KY), Blunt (MO), Ayotte (NH) & Portman (OH). We retained many, AK with RINO “Write-in” ahead and some others. Current count is 49 (D), 2 (I) & 47 (R).
With a triad of constitutional conservatives in the Senate: Rubio, Paul, and Mike Lee (especially Lee), I am very excited as to how “the debate” forms within that house of Congress.

The Federal Reserve, in a dramatic effort to rev up a “disappointingly slow” economic recovery, said it will buy $600 billion of U.S. government bonds over the next eight months to drive down interest rates and encourage more borrowing and growth.
Just put our debt on our own credit card. Greeeeeeaaaaaaaat.

According to the BBC, security officials in the capital city have ordered that all coconuts be removed from trees which could potential fall on the American president’s head. (h/t Weasel Zippers)
Officials in the Indian city of Mumbai (Bombay) have taken extraordinary measures to protect US President Barack Obama ahead of his visit. In their effort to provide maximum security in the run-up to his visit on Friday, they have removed coconuts which may fall on his head from trees.
All coconuts around the city’s Gandhi museum have now been cut down, an official told the BBC.
Every year in India people are injured or even killed by falling coconuts.
Mani Bhavan, where Mahatma Gandhi stayed during his freedom struggle against the British, is among five places the US president is visiting apart from a school, college and hotels attacked by Islamic militants in 2008.
“We told the authorities to remove the dry coconuts from trees near the building. Why take a chance?” Mani Bhavan’s executive secretary, Meghshyam Ajgaonkar, told the BBC.
Mahatma Gandhi has been cited by the president as an inspiration to him – he has [sic] a portrait of the independence leader in his senate office.
President Obama once famously said that he would like to have had dinner with Mr. Gandhi.
No stone has been left unturned by the authorities to guarantee Mr Obama’s safety.
Protecting the nut from nuts? Hmmmmmmm.

Darren, I’m more concerned that everyone knows what is going on than I am with who posts it first. If 10 people post the same link and it results in someone reading it who otherwise wouldn’t then that’s a good thing.

When I voted last week I put the I Voted sticker on the back window of my truck. Yesterday I was on a job in Conroe and a guy mentioned it and it just went without saying how we both voted since we were proud of it.
Either that or the fact I was in Conroe and the nearest Democrat was prolly 40 miles away, one of the two. 😀

#138 – at the intersection of FM359 & FM1458 in Pattison (3 miles north of Brookshire) there’s a yard on the corner that always has goats – ya might ask those folks?
