Weekend Open Comments

Let’s have a few links about bacon, everybody’s favorite vegetable (unless you’re one of the Tribe, I suppose).

It’s Bacon Week at the trendy 3 Restaurant in Washington DC.

Then there’s Bacon-palooza.

You can keep up with all the new developments in the wide, wide world of bacon here.

There are still those who doubt the goodness of the fruit of the swine.

I you want to wax poetic about your bacon, here’s a good place to start.

Finally, let’s not forget how smart Bacon can be.

Super Dave, congratulations on your son’s wedding going well today. You’ve gained a daughter. May they have a long and loving marriage and celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary in style.

As for the groom’s Mom and Dad, rest up and enjoy the videos and photos.

I’m calling it a night. I was up until 2 AM tinkering with the Rhodes, then up early for church. As usual, one of the tunes we sang is looping in my mind, but this one should help get me to sleep (it had that effect on the folks at the early service.) It’s a very simple four part arrangement… Read more »

Sounds like a wonderful day! Every wedding has to have its hiccups – you need stories to tell later on!

Congratulations on the wedding. May the newlyweds have much happiness over many years!

MAN!! Just got back from the wedding and it went great, started a little bumpy unorganized but it went well, a little over 150 people. I had a few friends that couldn’t make it to Daughter’s wedding that managed to show up so we were real happy with the outcome. The Boy and his Bride LQQked great and so did… Read more »

Hammy, my vote’s in. I prepped and seeded another vegetable bed. The faint screaming you’ll soon hear are the seedlings trying vainly to avoid my black thumb. I also shoveled a lot of dirt. That “lift with your legs” thing may help the back, but my thighs and other areas are certainly feeling it! I have finished barbecuing the meat,… Read more »

Stuffing ballot boxes like Democrats. I could announce he’s a Ron Paul libertarian and it’d be a cakewalk. 90%! Speaking of stuffing ballot boxes, did you see this? A special prosecutor investigating allegations of voter fraud, Trey Smith, is collecting DNA from the majority of the city council…all Democrats. Five city councilmen, including the council president, as well as four… Read more »

But ya know, if they are both still in school, they’re too young to get married anyway (IMHO, and also statistically speaking).

Mornin’ Gang We just finished up in the kitchen, daughter and Son-in-Law spent the night here with friends and Sister & Grandniece are staying with us. I cooked up homemade sausage, yard eggs, grits and biscuits. The kids didn’t show up until after 9 so we got a late start. I spent all day Friday putting 237 pictures into a… Read more »

Good morning all. Muglies creeping back, 68 at 6, light ground fog early on suitable for Baskerville Manor–but no hound other than maybe a neighbor’s Great Dane that might qualify. The breeze picked up and drove the mists away. Ahem, where is the promised cool front? This is too much like the dregs of late summer. There are some clever… Read more »

Wisconsin held on to beat Iowa 31-30 this afternoon. Yea. Second week to beat another Big 11 biggie. Losing it a little bit with the youngest has resulted in a parade of about five bags of trash being removed from his room.

One of Glenn Beck’s sponsers is Food Insurance. They claim to have foods that will last up to 25 yrs, everytime I hear it I ask myself, what could possibly start happening to a food in 25 yrs + 1 day that did not happen the past 25 yrs?

That reminds me of an Aggie joke: An Aggie and a t-sip are hunting in the woods together. After a while, Mother Nature begins to make some rather forceful demands on the Aggie. “Man, I really gotta go!” he tells the t-sip. “Well, go then! Bushes are over there!” says the t-sip, waving towards some shrubs. “But I gotta go… Read more »
