Facing possible historic losses and control of congress, our self-anointed Prince President has proclaimed:

“It may be that regardless of what happens after this election, they feel more responsible,” he is quoted saying in the Sunday edition of The New York Times Magazine, “either because they didn’t do as well as they anticipated, and so the strategy of just saying no to everything and sitting on the sidelines and throwing bombs didn’t work for them, or they did reasonably well, in which case the American people are going to be looking to them to offer serious proposals and work with me in a serious way.”

In other words, “you’re gonna have to do it my way.” But when the Republican congress starts sending him legislation and he vetoes it, that “party of no” line will come back to bite him.

Among the regrets the president said he felt during the 111th Congress is letting Republicans make him out to be “the same old tax-and-spend liberal Democrat.”

Um, Mr. President, all evidence points to that being fact.

Another regret expressed by the president was his failure to communicate effectively. Obama said he and his team took “perverse pride” in focusing only on policy while ignoring the sales pitch to the public.

He said he realizes now that “you can’t be neglecting of marketing and PR and public opinion.”

Yeah. That’s it. It’s not 10% unemployment, massive entitlement increases, an unpopular health care bill, or an astronomical deficit. You neglected your sales pitch.

    This is FUNNY!
Joe Biden blurts out that he will be Barack Obama’s 2012 running mate

The veep is apparentlyso delusional that he thinks he could be elected President in 2016, despite his disastrous efforts in 1988 and 2008 and the fact that he would then be, er, nearly 75 (though to be fair his porcelain gnashers – which have their own website – and nylon hair plugs are considerably younger). “No, I won’t. I won’t rule that out. No,” Biden said last year when he was asked if he would rule out a 2016 presidential run.

    … and Cap & Tax, Drilling Moratorium…

That guy is in front of the camera as much as Clinton was during his presidency. How about this Mr. President? We heard you and we understand you. You made your ideals perfectly plain for all to see. Now we want you to hear and understand us. Your ideas are worth less than the CO2 you emitted while espousing them from one side of the globe to the other. At the end of the day, there were more tallies in the Against column than in the For column.

Wow more corn in our fuel tanks!

“Thorough testing has now shown that E15 does not harm emissions control equipment in newer cars and light trucks,” said EPA Administrator Lisa P. Jackson. “Wherever sound science and the law support steps to allow more home-grown fuels corn that could be used as food in America’s vehicles, this administration takes those steps.”

Why are they doing this? Because they can… at least for the time being.

C’mon all, ease up. He’s really overworked right now. After all, it’s been 3 weeks since he took a vacation. Poor guy is all stressed out. Maybe he could take some time off and go to, I don’t know, maybe India? Oh, that’s right, he’s already planned that trip for the day after elections so he doesn’t have to face the press.

    1) Obama keeps proving what an economic ignoramus he is.
    2) … and how out-of-touch
    3) …or it could be just his attempt to spin, which proves how stoopid he thinks WE are!
    4) I forgot to mention yesterday – I met a 9/12er Monday night, who told me of an event at the Fox and Hound and I-45 and Fuqua tonight at 6:00 pm. I think it might be a Tea Party event. Anyway, their guest will be the lady who went to Sheila Jackson Lee’s town hall to talk about her cancer story, and found herself watching SJL take a phone call in the middle of her story.

Mr. “I won” complains that the Republicans had no input. The fact that they were locked out of all negotiations on meaningful legislation is immaterial I guess. They sat on the sidelines really means they did not support his “destroy America” agenda. Somehow, he now seems to believe that if the Republicans win big this time around, then they are somehow obligated to fall in line and to agree with his leadership positions. Put another way, he still has no intention of listening to any of their proposals. Now that my friends, is truly delusional thinking.

My mother lost her TDL, as well as her birth certificate. Thankfully, she doesn’t drive anymore, but she still needs an official government issued photo ID for various things.

I wrote to the LA bureau of vital stats to get a copy of her birth certificate, and figured that while I was at it, I’d get a couple of copies of mine, to give to my daughters for safe keeping. When the copies arrived, I was surprised to see that they were merely computer generated on official looking State paper, instead of my decades old micro-fiche copy of the original hand written record.

Oh well, so much for my 2012 presidential aspirations.

Obama preached, and campaigned on “CHANGE” well the only change we have seen is that which is in our wallets decrease because of the triad of liberals in charge, and what they have been doing. The sad thing is more and more those with a (R) behind their name are failing to say the right thing. Also this article is more proof that we need to kick a few more incumbants out. Christine O’Donnell and the NSRC And to think that Cornyn is ours.

What they should be doing is making sure that more like Mrs. O’Donnell get elected, because they are the fresh young blood that can energize the Republicans and conservatives. But those in power are afraid that they will be loose cannons. A little bit like a certain Texas State Senator from NW Houston that we all know.

Lots of details missing from the story of the dog and the baby…. How does anyone know the dog found the baby in the woods if it was out of the woods when the boys heard her crying? Why no speculation or mention of how the baby got in the woods in the first place? In Kenya, don’t they try to find a parent before putting up for adoption? In Kenya, is it commonplace to dump an unwanted baby in the woods?

#26, I couldn’t agree more. But for different reasons.

What they should be doing is making sure that more like Mrs. O’Donnell get elected, because they are the fresh young blood that can energize the Republicans and conservatives.

Thanks to the “purist” movement among the pubbie base, and the broader overwhelming disappointment associated with the party’s performance in ’08 cycle, such candidates fare very well in the primaries, and have unseated a few incumbents (which I don’t mind seeing at all.)

But when it comes time to appeal to the majorities required to win in the general, the odds are often against them and they face a steep uphill battle, as is the case with O’Donnel.

Now here is a poll that is not based on small percentages.

Likely voters in battleground districts see extremists as having a more dominant influence over the Democratic Party than they do over the GOP.

This result comes from The Hill 2010 Midterm Election Poll, which found that 44 percent of likely voters say the Democratic Party is more dominated by its extreme elements, whereas 37 percent say it’s the Republican Party that is more dominated by extremists.

The revelations in a survey of 10 toss-up congressional districts across the country point to problems for Democrats, who are trying to motivate a disillusioned base and appeal to independents moving to the GOP ahead of the Nov. 2 election.

And WaPo doesn’t see a lot of racists in the Tea party, either.

A new analysis of political signs displayed at a tea party rally in Washington last month reveals that the vast majority of activists expressed narrow concerns about the government’s economic and spending policies and steered clear of the racially charged anti-Obama messages that have helped define some media coverage of such events.

The chalk board on the wall at the Democrat Party strategy sessions kind of look like this:

People who disagree with us are:
    Racist

    Crazy

    Stupid

Anybody got a poll out there comparing average intelligence of Democrats and Liberals (but I repeat myself) and Conservatives?

The fact that majority of the country that hates, say, health care reform with the fire of a thousand suns is presumably because they don’t know what’s good for them. Then the idea that Obama neglected “marketing and P.R. and public opinion.” The president gave 54(!) speeches on health care reform, including a special joint session of Congress and prime time infomercial. And yet, he’s still of the opinion he just hasn’t explained it properly or something? We’re gonna like this turkey any day now! (Also, the fact he’s explaining his policy approach in his eleventy billionth magazine profile should tell you something — as president, Obama’s even posed for the cover of The American Dog.)

That is where you are wrong, Obama got elected with the message that he was the tool of change, but we find out he is only a tool to the far left liberal mindset.

Hate to break it to you but the overwhelming mindset of the swing voters is that if they had a choice between a the following Traditional (R), Traditional (D), thrid party /independent person who is willing to bring new/different ideas to problem solving the overwhelming majority would pick the third one. All you have to do is look at the last Texas Governor’s race, where you had that. And look at who supported each candidate, and look at what it got us. A Governor who to this day is more campaign than contribution, and there are plenty of links to prove that.

I know that those that brought us the movie “The American President” were from the liberal side of the fence, however if you watch that movie and take the political parties out of it, you see a perfect example of the mindset of those that are entrenched in the highest levels of government. Richard Dryfus as the candidate who is challenging the existing POTUS, does exactly what he thinks needs to be done, which is spout off and make everybody afraid of something.

That is what goes on every 2 years in this country, well at least until now, where we have candidates who are going out and trying to bring both fresh blood and fresh ideas to the table.

LOL, how ’bout we have a look at the shrinking percentages of self-ID-ing republicans and democrats compared to the growing number of people in the middle, who wish to affiliate with neither party.

You are correct in that daring to disagree with the very small number of people here doesn’t change minds. Such is not my intent. I’ve long known that in a few cases, a better political discussion could be had with a brick wall. The wall is more realistic and open minded, and is more likely to read objective and even opposing sources instead of the well paid partisan pundits who earn their keep by telling folks exactly what they want to hear.

Just look at the standard fare of articles and comments here each day:

The So-Con pubbie politicians are running against Obama, not on their (non-existent) fiscal record, wise spending, or effective/efficient small government policies. Obama is their biggest asset in ’10, and I don’t doubt that they will win many races, just as Bush was the dems biggest asset in ’08. As I’ve noted before, the pendulum swings…

These day’s I’d rather have a root canal than call myself a D or an R. Especially a Texas Republican. But don’t let me talk anyone out of the purity movement. Go ahead and have litmus tests for candidates and supporters. Nothing much ever changes and that is especially true in American politics. The same divisions and philosophical differences existed at the time of Andrew Jackson, John Q. Adams, and Henry Clay.

The pendulum will swing back and forth and put one faction into power and showing hubris that one would normally expect in a Greek Tragedy; they claim a mandate from the people, when in truth the pols in power are no more than the latest “Flavor of the Month”.

I do see a general downward trend in our society, but this too should be expected. Rome’s Pax Romana only lasted about 400 years and in the end they fell to the same barbarians they had previously vanquished. This too will be our fate and the only argument is how far along in the decline are we today.

You just made my point. Obama, pledged change. But what change has there been? Federal spending on programs is up to never before seen levels, Unemployment is at levels not seen since CARTER, The government has an ownership stake in 67% of the auto makers that are US based, as well as AIG,(which was done by the CEO that all but begged the feds to save his ass.). We also get the biggest federal program (Obamacare) since the FDR, with one big exception, FDR was putting people to work through federal infrastructure projects. And on top of that this president has brought change to DC in one way, we know he will be willing to pose for any sort of photo op, no matter what, just to get his face in print.

The wind coming from 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. is reaching hurricane force and the sad thing is you are seeing the result of his lack of leadership skills in how early his staff is bailing on him. He has the highest staff turnover % of any president during the first 2 years in office of ANY president in history.

And no Obama does not suck, I really believe that he thinks he is doing the right thing, all the more reason to pitty him. The problem is he has no leadership skills, the White House is right now a ship with out a captain, and that is more dangerous for us as a country than someone who, is trying to lead us in the wrong direction. I cannot think of one time where he has sent legislation to the Congress that he and his staff of “experts” have crafted 100% by themselves. They cannot do it, they are incapable of generating an idea and running with it. Much less selling us(public) on it.

As James quotes “Faith without works is dead.” I saw a few faces cloud over when I explained that we were all gifted with different talents, and if and how we used them would be an example of their faith. I have a feeling that a few of them aren’t very comfortable with stepping out and using their gifts. It’s so much easier to sit back and let others lead and take care of everything.

They are only teenagers, and there’s always room for maturity development. Especially when I read the note that was confiscated during class with comments like: “you look like a caca head” “you look like a poopie head” “God loves white people” “no, he likes Mexicans the best – they’re his favorites!”

This occupant of the WH bears a very similar resemblance to another (D) occupant back in the 70’s. The thing is when the Republicans came into the majority in 1995 there was one thing that happened. The GOP went outside the box when it came to what their platform was, as well as who was running things. Bob is correct in one aspect and that is unless there is a significant change in those that have the leadership of the party we will see more of what we saw between 2005 and 2008. More spending, bigger government. Be honest with me do you really feel that Mitch McConnell and John Boehner will be any different than Reid and Pelosi? The only difference will be where the money is being wasted. The last fisical conservatives that were in any leadership congress was forced from office because of a corrupt DA in Austin, and a questionable book deal that was not a big deal in the first place.

I guess that means another thing you can keep on doing is changing the subject to fit your argument.

    I thought you knew that.

Yes, lets do talk about candidates.

How about the completely unqualified, under experienced fruitcake darling of the tea party running for the senate seat in Delaware. The one that’s trailing in the polls, and 24 hours after her primary victory, totally wiped her web presence to avoid being further embarrassed by it. I’d be rather surprised to see her win. You?

Or how ’bout the professional nutjob from Nevada, Sharon Angle? Any rational/somewhat moderate republican could have kicked “Dingy Harry’s” butt, given the transference of Obama criticism to him via the republican media punditry. He was an easy mark, and the so-con puritans might have blown it. She may well win, but do you really think the pubbie establishment will let her embarrass them?

And then there’s the failed former veep candidate, “Glenn Beck with Boobs” who a significant portion of the right wing base would still like to see on the 2012 ballot, despite the fact that she’s not qualified, and was tapped for the ’08 spot only because you folks thought McCain was “too moderate” and the RNC decided they needed a nutjob on the ticket to salvage turnout on the down ballot races. Qualified? Nope. Experienced? Nope. Electable? Nope, nope!

Yup I can talk about candidates. Perhaps you could say a few words about Michele Bachmann. They might inspire me to write some satire. 😉

    #58, Bob,

I am not fooled, I have been going into the voting booth on that first Tuesday in November with my eyes wide open. You can ask anyone here, from day 1 I have said and still say today, if we want to change what is going on in Austin and DC, we need to start here in our back yard, with City Councils, County Judges, County Commissioners, . Get in their faces and demand accountability, and if they don’t govern responsability then we go candidate shopping, and this includes looking for alternatives in the primaries, even if it means someone from the other party wins. There are ways to do it, but like Simple said there is an overall lack of leadership in this country at every level, and what compounds that is the apathy towards doing what is necessary to get change done.

It is like Sarah Palin said, the reason she was an “outsider” was because she broke the 11th commandment, “thou shall not speak ill of your fellow repubilcan/democrat” That is 100% fertilizer. The true commandment is “thou shall not speak ill of your fellow repubilcan/democrat, however you must bash those from the other party no matter where their beiefs and record stand.”

Sometimes you have to take a step backwards to take 2 steps forward.

by contrast at least Mrs. Palin was governor of Alaska for 2 years and mayor for 6years, so how is it that someone that actually was in the leadership of a state government is less qualified that someone who has been is a Jr senator position for less than 1 term? Please enlighten me on that one? I have a cold one that says you cannot, because you have already resorted to the typical liberal tactic when they cannot win, name calling.

#61 Hamous, the first part of your first paragraph makes some sense. As to the latter, do as you wish, but I see little reason to believe them.

Here’s the deal. The Republicans gained both houses of congress in 1995 for the first time in my lifetime. They did a pretty good job until 2001. They became progressively looser with the purse strings until 2007 when they lost control again. I’m willing to believe them when they say they’ve learned a lesson, if for no other reason than there will be a tremendous amount of new faces this time. If they backslide then they’ll lose control again.

But in 2000, what did the republicans run on? Their modest fiscal accomplishments, or Bill Clinton’s pants at ankle altitude? It was in the late 90s that I stopped calling myself a republican (but I confess to voting for Bush, once.)

As for me having a “litmus tests,” get real. That’s a common right wing puritan republican failing that I point out, not mine. Rare is the candidate that is brave enough to say it’s time to talk about drug policies that might work for a change, and plenty are the candidates that ride the coat tails of the religious right’s dishonesty and fear mongering about the need to get government in folks pants about sexuality. Gary Johnson is one of those exceptionally rational politicians, and is looking at a 2012 run. Realistically, he doesn’t stand a chance in the primary for those very reasons. Really dude, if I had as many litmus test as you do, I’d rarely hang a chad for anybody.

This next paragraph is complete nonsense. I reckon that in your mind if some one doesn’t share your right wing litmus test of being extremely “pro-life” they MUST be in favor of “abortion mills on every corner.” That complete BPH. I have never promoted such facilities, or abortion as birth control, and have repeatedly stated my “pro-reality” opinion concerning politics and abortion. You are yet again simply regurgitating far right, polarized, you’re “either with us or against us” talking points regardless of applicability.

As far as “So-Cons” forcing their beliefs via force of government, I can easily prove that, and the far right red state pubbies that you pitch propaganda for are Exhibit A.

I would hope that they wouldn’t be the leadership but, yes, I think the new blood in the party would keep them in check and they’d certainly be different than Reid and Pelosi. We would not have Obamacare under their leadership. Cap and Tax would never have passed in the House. Obamulus would not have passed in the House and probably not in the Senate.

Having beat litmus tests black and blue, and with no apologies whatsoever to Sarge for “changing the subject…”

Here’s a classic example of a drug warrior tacitly admitting defeat, and proudly promoting additional government authoritah and bureaucracy.

Police Chief Thomas Nestel has a radical – and riling – idea for car owners in Upper Moreland Township:

Lock it, or get hit in the pocket.

The aim of a proposed $25 fine, Nestel said, is to reduce thefts of items from cars and, in so doing, help rid the eastern Montgomery County municipality of thieving drug abusers.

Of course, if the armed bureaucrats run across an unlocked vehicle, why not take the liberty of having a peek inside, just to see if there’s an easy arrest that could be made to boost the stats that result in increased federal redistribution of money stolen from taxpayers. Fourth amendment? WTF is that?

Trivia: One third of Americans classify broadband internet access as a necessity rather than a luxury. With that kind of popularity and appreciation, you can bet that politicians of both stripes will step up their efforts to increase government ability regulate it, control access, and influence its content.

But don’t worry, they’ll tell us it’s for our own good, and that we need their “protection.”

#73 Sarge, I don’t claim to be right all the time. But I will point out that you could not be more wrong with this garbage.

And now that there are new faces running on fiscal issues, you focus on Social issues.

Let’s see… I first discovered Loonie Tunes Times when I was pounding the pavement in support of Ron Paul, a bona-fide social conservative (against the WoD for mainly fiscal reasons) and not much of an authoritarian at all. He was despised by his fellow conservatives for that reason, and more so for the fact that his fiscal conservatism pointed out their glaring hypocrisy there.

As for all these new faces “running on fiscal issues” they’re saying nothing new on the stump. When they actually start walking that talk, you may have a point. I’ll remain skeptical based on experience. Until they put our money where their mouths are, there’s nothing wrong with recognizing the degree of support their social conservative rantings bring them from the right wing base. Its there, and it is tangible.

You can choose to recognize that aspect of their popularity or not. I respect your political and individual freedoms.

What a crock. He was criticized by LST conservatives for flirting with racist, anti-Semitic, real homophobic scumbags and idiot troofers, not for his social conservative bona fides. You were willing to excuse that. We were not. That speaks volumes to the courage of your convictions. And you have the audacity to call ME a homophobe? Heh heh. You’ve definitely jumped the shark now. It is to laugh, no?

Oh but when it comes to judicial activism B42 and Ron Paul part ways. You fair weather friend you. Ya see Mr. Paul and we agree, well that is all “we” except Bob42 cause Mr. Paul does not believe judges should create law from the bench. Did I mention Bob42 has no problems with judges that legislate from the bench unless they gore his ox?

#95 Mr. Box, I’ve suggested before that “legislating from the bench” and “judicial activism” are terms selectively and subjectively applied by those who disagree with a ruling. All along the left-right continuum are folks that have and will always disagree with some court decisions. Not all of them use such knee-jerk terms to describe their disappointment.

A representative republic includes checks and balances that avoid mob rule, among other things.

“You kind of have to drop the standard for the first lady, right?”

It’s apparently ok for Mrs. Obama to engage in political discussion inside a polling place, when Illinois State Law says clearly:

“No judge of election, pollwatcher, or other person shall, at any primary or election, do any electioneering or soliciting of votes or engage in any political discussion within any polling place [or] within 100 feet of any polling place.”

    Even I know that’s a no-no. And I didn’t go to Harvard Law School.

That has really gotta hurt trying to spin that one.

A representative republic includes checks and balances that avoid mob rule, among other things.

A representative republic under our system has the laws created in the Legislative branch of the government, not the judicial. The judicial branch can, when called up, determine whether the laws is constitutional or not. Judicial activism IS the same as legislating from the bench.

I disagree with the bench violating state’s rights period, despite my ideology on the topic presented before the court. IAnd i absolutely disagree wit ha federal judge striking down Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell. Civil courts should NEVER have a say in military matters. It’s all self-annointing power. Even if a court rules in your idealistic favor, you still loose freedom when it’s based on legislating from the bench.
