I think this is probably a gross overestimate but, at the same time, the rumors of a Democrat surge in the final days of the campaign are greatly exaggerated:

Michael Barone, co-author of the Almanac of American Politics, says either of the Gallup turnout models would produce “a Republican House majority the likes of which we have not seen since the election cycles of 1946 or even 1928.” Mr. Barone says the historical parallel might no longer be 1994, when the GOP gained 54 House seats, but instead 1894, when Republicans gained more than 100 House seats in the middle of the economic downturn that engulfed Democratic President Grover Cleveland.

Whatever happens it’s gonna be an interesting November.

#71 mharper Yes that’s him, should have been more specific. Doc has had him on Beta Blockers which keeps his heart rate down to like 50 BPM, even so, he’s still had a couple of incidents that went away quickly. There’s just something not right about keeping an active 19 yr old’s heart rate down that low. It is a… Read more »

This sounds like a good treatment, being minimally invasive. Is it being performed in Houston? Hope you get a permanent fix this time.

We’ve lost the “archives” from LST, so forgive me for asking for a reminder — is your son the one who had his semester interrupted?

I think there is something biological involved in the “throws like a girl” thing. There are gender differences in what our bodies are good at and how they are put together. Thus it can be hard if not impossible for many girls to make the motions that equal good pitching. Throwing to base is a bit different and perhaps easier… Read more »

Reliving those early softball chasing years reminded me of another event… My oldest sister had married and he joined in one of the neighborhood games. we couldn’t find the softball and so were using a hardball this day. I was in my usual spot in the out-outfield and hadn’t had much business that day. I was daydreaming, watching some birds… Read more »

#56 Wagonburner Charlie Crist throws like a girl. As a former girl, I take umbrage at that comment. When I was very young, like age six or so, our family used to play the rest of the neighborhood in frequent baseball games. Yes, our family vs. every other kid in the neighborhood. Since I was so young, I was put… Read more »

bob #7; So according to the apparently prevailing logic (or lack thereof) here, if 51% of voters in Texas favored a constitutional amendment legalizing indentured servitude, that would be hunky-dory, and any court that ruled otherwise would be legislating from the bench. You mean if 51% of the legislatures voted in favor of indentured servitude and the governor of Texas… Read more »

#40 WB, TV & internet, or just internet? If both, I suggest fanning it out to the set top boxes with CAT5 instead of existing coax. I’ve been very satisfied with the internet performance, especially the consistent upload throughput.

A Uniter, that Obummer. Voters Are Much Less Optimistic About Black-White Relations. Perceptions about the state of black-white relations in America have fallen dramatically since the summer of 2009. From Breitbart’s “Big Journalism” site: a story about how newspaper editors cover up the dirt on the left. I found the linked Clinton story particularly disturbing. Dang. I’ve gone and lost the page, too. It was a slo-mo video supposedly of a golf ball at high speed hitting a piece of steel. The ball actually f-l-a-t-t-e-n-e-d completely before bouncing back. It was very cool looking.

Apples & typewriters. You’re trying to compare disallowing an activity (gay marriage) with actively taking ownership of another and forcing them to do things against their will (indentured servitude).

Furthermore, one has already been addressed by the Constitution, while the Constitution is silent on the other.

Which means that the right to decide remains with the People and the States.
